Liguria Foods, Inc. provides premium quality meat toppings, including what many consider the market’s best-tasting pepperoni. We painstakingly follow our old-world recipes, providing our customers (and your customers) with the same performance and flavor each and every day.

Founded in Humboldt, Iowa, in 1974, our dry sausage business has continued to grow thanks to customers who appreciate the artisan approach we use to create high-quality pepperoni plus Genoa and hard salami. Liguria uses the highest quality ingredients – always fresh and never frozen – sourced directly from long-time area farms.

We specialize in foodservice, creating quality product for quality-minded pizzerias and sandwich shops (and their customers) that appreciate the authentic Italian taste of pepperoni and Italian-specialty meats from Liguria.

The dedicated production process merges modern technology with traditional touches, like a redwood drying room, enabling Liguria to create consistently delicious products. What results are premier toppings with dependable kitchen performance, for a difference consumers can see and taste.

In February 2016, Liguria began the next chapter as CTI Foods, a leading provider of custom food solutions to America’s top restaurant chains, acquired Liguria Foods.

Our Recipe

Many pepperoni producers blend pork, beef and fillers to hit a targeted low-cost formulation price. At Liguria Foods, we make the same pepperoni, the same way every day. In certain peak markets, you may pay a little more but your customers will enjoy the same flavor and texture each day without the oiling off. Liguria Foods seek a variety of third party certifications in order to satisfy the needs of our customers. Food safety is our number one value and we exceed all governmental regulations to give our customers the confidence to buy and re-sell our products. Consumers demand safe food produced in plants where all aspects of transparency and humane treatment of animals and people receive top priority. Liguria Foods receives regular inspections and audits from the USDA and HACCP.

Sustainability

We live in the world, and take many steps to insure that our manufacturing processes use the least amount of resources. We use high-energy efficient equipment and high-pressure water delivery systems to reduce our electric and water consumption. Much of our packaging is recycled and recyclable. We have instituted a number of energy saving innovations and work closely with MidAmerican Energy Company, which is one of the largest producers of power through renewable resources. In fact, wind energy accounts for about 40 percent of their power capacity.
